Fabricated by local bakers since the XVIIth century, the creation of the proper “galettes de Pont-Aven” dates back to 1890, when Isidore Penven succeded to his father at the head of the bamily bakery, located in the neighborhood of the bridge. Thanks to these little salted-butter delicacies, Pont-Aven has been rewarded with the “Remarkable Taste Site” label.
The success of the galettes of Pont-Aven quickly turned them into the emblem of the so-called City of Painters!
